- Analysis
In the beginning there is a kind of tutorial that I recommend you play. It will greatly help you become familiar with the controls and weapons.
The graphics are good and the special effects are quite good.
In terms of weapons as you can see that the pictures are very detailed and every gun has its own visual and sound effects.
The mobility of your character is good and has very few glitches.
You can see when your character has trouble climbing hills and stairs or when skating.
When you have it level there is a full arsenal of different weapons and more are available if you use the codes. My favorites are the M1911 and the M1 Garand. Both are very good because their shots are almost always fatal. The Springfield M1903 is great as a sniper gun. The Tommy Gun is great when you want to give cover fire or when entering buildings. The Browning automatic rifle or BAR is very effective at inflicting great damage on enemies. The Sturmgewehr 44 is only for the Germans but they can be captured while playing or by activating the codes. The grenades or bazookas I have used very little, so cannot advise you there.
Sometimes you can see where the Germans are coming from. For example, at the outer gate of the compound where Powell is trying to steal the Stg-44, you can see how the Germans seem to appear out of nowhere, one after another.
There are certain enemies that always follow the same pattern when attacking. So from one game to another it isn’t difficult to anticipate their attacks.
In the Rendezvous mission, the Resistance was criticized because they enjoyed the scene where the church appears. This was considered disrespectful so led them to try and create a patch that would eliminate those scenes.
The dogs only need to barking and you will lose life, even if they are far.
- History
It is a game inspired by World War II and starts when the Americans enter the war. It includes their forays into North Africa to control access to the Mediterranean. You are Lt. Mike Powell, the protagonist of the game, an experienced a member of Rangers.
The game was created and produced by Steven Spielberg as are the other games of the saga. Medal of Honor is inspired in part by the film Saving Private Ryan, directed by Spielberg himself in 1998.
As the name suggests, this game recounts some of the major battles waged by the U.S. military against the Nazi War Machine. Operation Torch was initiated on D-Day during the invasion of Europe. This started at the beginning the Allied landing in North Africa.
- Missions and Objectives:
Mission I – Operation Torch, Algeria – Lt. Mike Powell, with the help of a small group of Rangers, is trying to take possession of a small town occupied by the Germans near Arzew, Algeria. The objectives of this mission are to destroy the coastal artillery batteries which could jeopardize the success of Operation Torch. The Allied landings in North Africa must succeed as they need to save Jack Grillo, an English SAS agent who has been captured and imprisoned before he could fulfill his mission for the English.
After losing all of your men in an ambush trying to release Grillo, you do need to meet certain objectives with his help. The main one is the destruction or sabotage of German materials which belong to the Afrika Korps. The goal is to paralyze the enemy to facilitate the Allied landing. After destroying the German Coastal Artillery batteries and the Opel trucks belonging to the Africa Korps, Powell and Grillo are supposed to light up the lighthouse on the coast signaling the Americans to begin the attack.
My advice for a successful mission: There are many things that can go wrong if you’re not clear on your objectives of gathering intelligence, performing espionage and sabotaging the enemy. It is very difficult to gain entrance to the German military bases, and once inside it is even more difficult to stay alive. My recommendation is that you rescue the English soldier who is in one of the towers and is being tortured. Good luck!
Mission II – Sinking the U-529, Norway – This endeavor involves Lt. Powell trying to infiltrate Kriegsmarine, a German military base. It’s located next to the Norwegian city of Trondheim. Cricket, the rescued English soldier, has been passing as a German officer and he is helping you. Your first objective is to destroy the NAXOS, which is a sonar prototype located on the U-boat. This sonar has the ability to help the Kriegsmarines dominate the Atlantic. Your second objective is to steal some secret documents and plans and then sabotage the U-529.
Cricket is killed at the beginning of this mission when he is helping Powell enter the base. So now Lt. Powell is alone and must steal a German uniform and papers in order to approach the targets without being noticed. Once the mission is completed Powell must escape to a small train station to meet up with a group of American soldiers who are waiting on a stolen train, which was taken by the Norwegian Resistance.
My advice for a successful mission: During this mission you face many situations where you could be killed. It’s a very difficult mission so I recommend that you save each of your successes. It is very easy to run out of ammo if you’re not careful. Use the Sturmgewehr 44. When you enter the submarine, look first to the tail or engine as it is easier and you have to plan on getting out of it as fast as possible. If you explode the ammunition on the deck of the submarine, you have lost. Also when you put on the German uniform, disarm it or the German’s will attack you.
Mission III – Operation Overlord France – In this third campaign, Lt. Powell is initially involved in the allied assault on Omaha Beach during D-Day. The dialogue and events depicted are modeled from the film "Saving Private Ryan". The only feature that stands out is the coastal bunker penetration. As you proceed you will need to advance through the Bocage. With the help of another officer, Captain Ramsey, you will fulfill certain objectives like rescuing the paratroopers of the 101 st Airborne Division who are besieged on a farm. You will also have to destroy several Nebelwefer rocket launchers and some anti-aircraft batteries. You’ve got to break through the perimeter to reach the Saint-Lô region, where the next part of the story takes place.
My advice to be successful: This part of the game is very difficult and intense. The worst part is trying to figure out a plan. The Germans are coming from all parts so all I can say is "good luck".
Mission IV – Behind Enemy Lines, France – Powell must find an American officer and his driver whose plane crashed in a rural area which was infested with Germans. He needs to lead them to safety. After the rescue he must meet with a member of the Resistance, called Manon Baptiste, to help him infiltrate a base storing vehicles where there are several Tiger tanks that need to be eliminated. Finally you will find yourself at a mansion where the Germans are keeping battle plans plus the designs for a new model of the Panzer, the King Tiger. You must copy the plans and carry this to safety in the rescue zone, which is your task in Mission V.
My advice to help you succeed: It’s very difficult in the beginning. When you find yourself inside the church, the only way out is to open the top of the altar and enter the tunnels that follow. Always be aware of where you turn off the alarm. That will buy you some time.
Mission V - The Day of the Tiger, France – Your main task is to raid a village full of snipers and to also help several tank crews reach the town. After clearing out the enemies, you will have to steal a King Tiger parked nearby. Once behind the wheel of the armored vehicle, your next goal is to reach the town of Brest in Brittany. You need to prevent the Germans from flying over the main bridge first in order to assist the Allied advance and defend Sherman after his troops were attacked by enemy armor and aviation.
My advice to help you succeed: Although the first part of this video game is really tough it’s not nearly as bad as the second part, which is hell. You have got to make sure that none of your men get killed otherwise it will be nearly impossible to win. When you’re on the bridge don’t cruise along. On the top of the apartment on your left with your fuse sniper can kill the Nazis who are trying to blow up the bridge. When your reinforcements arrive you must leave immediately because the Nazis are going to blow that apartment building up. Get to the house on the right side of the bridge. When you get ahold of the tank you need to destroy every building in sight to make it easier to win.
Mission VI – Return to Schmerzen, Germany – Lt. Powell must parachute over Germany in order to destroy a military complex called Fort Schmerzen. This is a secret mustard gas factory located on the Siegfried Line. Jimmy Patterson, in the first installment of this series, nearly destroyed the complex but the Germans managed to rebuild it by this time. In order to get there Lt. Powell must first infiltrate a forest full of machine gun nests and bunkers. Good luck.
My advice to help you succeed: In order to infiltrate the base you’ve got to disguise yourself. Since this complex has the "Sturmgewehr 44", a revolutionary new weapon, you need to scroll to the last town before Fort Schmerzen so that you can cut communications and send a false message to the Germans so that you and the Rangers can escape from the chemical complex. Once you get going you need to get rid of the snipers surrounding the station. You have to clear out the enemies from the complex, put some bombs in the weak spots at the complex in order to destroy it and kill the scientists who developed the mustard gas chemical weapons in the first place. You have to escape before the bombs go off and kill you and the Rangers.
My advice to help you succeed: The entire mission is very difficult, but hell is awaiting you in the underground tunnels below the factory. It requires an enormous effort to successfully blow up the factory. You can’t wait around because it will be almost impossible and you will surely run out of ammo, more than once. Be very careful and good luck.

Some helpful secrets:
In the mission "Scuttling the U-529", in Step 2 (Trondheim), having already obtained the German uniform and the identification of Level 1, you will arrive at a place where three German soldiers are playing cards. On the right, there is a window that shows two mechanics talking. Press the "action" button on the window and there and you will be able to do some stunts and later a Russian dance.
This game has another hidden level, plus "The Void". To access this mission you need to enable the console: Press the button on the console and type "maplist". You will be shown a list of maps to choose from and you must select the map called "m410". This will access the secret mission. Throughout this mission you need to be aware of the dog as he makes a lot of appearances.
In the mission called "Scuttling the U-529" in step 2 (Trondheim), when you get to the locker room where the official uniform and documentation are, on level 1, there is a box in the office to the right of the door (the last one starting with this), which has a 50% kit and an MP40.
In the mission called "The Rescue Mission", in stage 1 (Arzew), before you head to the 88mm cannons located on the coast, you can rescue an English officer being interrogated. You need to climb the stairs to the right of the central courtyard where the gunners with lights are and follow the road until you reach the room where he is being held.
In the mission called "Siegfried Line", in Step 3, in the place where you cut the German communications, there is a house near the entrance with a piano and a cello in one of the rooms. If you press the "action" button next to the song, they play music.
If you pay close attention in the mission called "Lighting the Torch – Lighthouse – Starting" and the mission "Die Sturmgewehr – Starting" listen carefully to two Germans having a conversation. This is kind of funny.
The game of "Hide and Seek": Finish the levels for snipers (Mission V, Level 1) and when you reach the highest level of difficulty, keeping all 7 Allied soldiers alive, you will reach the King Tiger tank. Once you have accomplished this, a doctor armed with a bazooka challenges you to a game of "Hide and Seek". To win this game you will have to get to one of the open roof huts and sneak downstairs by jumping through the gap in the planks.
